Close to 25,000 Experiencing Electricity in South-East Queensland and Victoria Following Powerful Storms
Nearly twenty-five thousand residences in Queensland's southeast were left without power on Monday's dawn after severe thunderstorms passed over the state, producing wind gusts reaching 109km/h.
Large Hailstones and Widespread Impact
Residents witnessed large ice chunks reaching sizes of 7cm in particular locations. Meteorological experts announced that various areas across Queensland had been hit with substantial ice precipitation.

Emergency crews were attempting to repair energy supply throughout the impacted areas, with approximately seventy teams activated to handle the extensive power failures.
Victorian Weather Woes
Meanwhile, around 1,000 residents in the southern state also encountered energy failures after the capital city experienced its wettest day in 18 months.
State Emergency Services responded to over five hundred emergency reports across the state, mainly for building damage but also for collapsed vegetation and water accumulation.

At the height on yesterday, more than 28,000 electricity consumers in the state were without power.

Moist weather were predicted to continue along large portions of eastern Queensland this week as a low-pressure trough continued to draw in moisture against the coast.
Tuesday was predicted as the most rainy day, with ongoing storm activity predicted across multiple regions of both regions.
Safety Concern
Health officials cautioned that there was an greater possibility of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the northern rural areas, specifically given the ongoing climate situation.
This alert comes after past events where comparable situations led to substantial respiratory problems in the area.
