Critical Role Season Four Introduces the Warriors Table

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a colorful mix of characters, and a thrilling plot featuring angels, fiends, and malevolent powers growing in strength within Dol-Makjar.

Note: Revealing details for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.

The Warrior Group Introduced

Episode 3 concluded with a major cliffhanger and revealed the first table of characters who will branch out from the primary party to embark on their independent quest, distinct from the other two tables.

The Soldiers table includes Teor (brought to life by Travis), Thimble (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).

The Reason for Division

Considering a large ensemble, it was obvious from the start that having everyone at the same party would be impossible.

That’s why, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, weaving together the individual narratives before branching into three distinct groups: Fighters, Schemers, and Explorers.

The Nature of the Warrior Group

Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for participants who enjoy a typically action-packed fight-heavy narrative style where diplomatic options are rare.

Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might seem mismatched, but the events of episode 3 demonstrate why these five characters are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.

Motivations for Departure

For one thing, the team understands precisely where to head next after a intense initial meeting with the enemy group.

A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose passing started the narrative’s action—exploited the foes for his own means, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, striking the rogue, and stealing all the magical artifacts to auction.

The traitor then cleared his debts and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, above the urban center, with Teor’s brother close behind.

Personal Motivations

Moreover, each character has a specific drive to depart Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, desires retribution.
  • The adventurer is familiar with the northern area and warns that it is a hostile environment.
  • The warrior and Wicander, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to eliminate the fighter and instead freed him, have no other options.
  • Yet, their position as important members in the influential clan could enable the group reach locations they normally couldn’t.
  • Moreover, Teor pledged a unbreakable promise to The savior for his salvation and will now go with him wherever.

Pursued by Authorities

Lastly, all of them are hunted by the rulers that control the setting for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind no longer safe:

  • The agile adventurer and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The strong figure and The cleric defied the powerful family and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
  • Teor is marked for death by House Halovar.

This results in them no alternative but to head to the remote area in quest for Casimir.

Upcoming Developments

According to the latest episode’s post-show segment, we discover that the Soldiers table won’t be around the following episode, leaving the rest of the participants to form the Questers and Schemers tables.

Viewers can look forward to learning which players will be assigned to which table in the season’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on next week.
