The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Sets Woody and Buzz Against a Digital Device
It has been 30 years after the first Toy Story movie debuted, launching the animation giant as a leading film company and bringing viewers to beloved characters like Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, offering a brief look into the plot but leaving viewers curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Spooks the Gang
The preview shows the young girl — who inherited Andy's toys when he grew up — getting a brand new plaything, one that alarms the familiar toy group. She acquires her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.
Presumably, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the characters seem to view it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it likely will.
Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
One thing the trailer avoids is what the sheriff is returned with his friends in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), traveling with a fair and assisting prize toys find good homes.
Surely, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?
Continuity from the Previous Film
Fortunately, some aspects are carrying over from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before setting off for his fresh path was hand over his symbol of authority to Jessie (the voice actor), leaving her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser shows the badge pinned to her shirt.
It is hoped she is remains the driving force among the toys.
